Jackie's Tartar Sauce

This recipe is the simplest ever, and shared for Jackie, by Robin.
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions
Simple! Just mix everything together in a bowl and serve. In a hurry? Don't have lemon juice? No worries. Just the first two ingredients alone make for a perfectly good tartar sauce. :)

Geek Notes:  We checked the spelling. It's Tartar sauce, not Tarter sauce. The name is derived from the French Sauce Tartare. It is named after the Tatar tribe which came from Eurasian Steppe to occupy the parts of Ukraine and Russia. The Tartar introduced finely minced meat eaten raw which became known as hamburg steak. So this is Steak Tartare that we have heard of and maybe even tried. It is still popular in France. Have you tried it? The sauce used on Steak Tartare became known as Tartar sauce -- the yummy sauce we Americans commonly use on fish.
