Make it EXTRA fun 
with Lorax Sauce!

Colorful Pasta

This is a fun way to get kids to eat pasta -- even the healthier varieties which are masked by the color. They'll be so excited about the colorful meal, they won't even suspect you've sneaked "healthied up" pasta onto their plates. 


Ingredients:
  • Pasta (light enough in color to absorb color).
  • Food Coloring (the gel colors used for cake decorating work best)
  • Water (in large pots, divided)


Boil water in three different pans (make sure you have plenty of water so the pasta rolls around freely). Add food color to make the water bright and colorful (one color to each pan). When the water is at a rapid boil, add pasta and cook for the time indicated on the package. Drain and serve! 

NOTE: Give the pans a quick wash right after use to ensure the color wipes off quickly. I use a bottle of spray bleach to spray the pan interior quickly and then wash them with soap & water when I do dishes. 


Lorax Sauce

Lorax Sauce is simply Cheese Sauce that's been colored to take on a fun, new twist. Make our standard Cheese Sauce with a twist -- use WHITE CHEDDAR instead of the traditional orange colored cheese. Then color it with a gel-based food coloring (the variety used when decorating cakes -- easily found in your local craft store or anywhere they sell cake decorating supplies). WARNING:  Kids Love This Sauce!!


Note: You can easily substitute store bought Alfredo Sauce for homemade Cheese Sauce but the homemade sauce is definitely yummier and healthier (and most kids prefer it to Alfredo Sauce).
